LAC section- Spring 2002
Languages
Across the Curriculum (LAC) introduces the use of a second language
into a broad range of academic disciplines, including Political
Science, History, Sociology, and numerous other courses within the
social sciences and professional schools. This initiative has been
undertaken by the UNC Center for Western European Studies, the UNC
Institute of Latin American Studies, and the University Center for
International Studies with the support of the Department of Germanic
Languages and Literatures, Romance Languages and Literatures, and
Senior Associate Dean, Darryl Gless (College of Arts & Sciences).
To date,
we have successfully integrated three European languages into the
UNC curricula: French, Spanish, and German. In our fourth year of
this cycle, the Center for European Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill will
fund the development and teaching assistantships of seven courses
to be taught during the academic year. These courses include: History

and Spring section of International
Studies 77-Global Issues (Professors Evelyne Huber, Liesbet
