Electronic Information Sources--JOMC 050

What You Will Learn

This course has a number of goals and objectives, all of which center around helping you use some of the resources available in an information society to your advantage. You will learn:
  • how to conduct searches for various types of information
  • how to evaluate a variety of electronic information sources
  • how to use the Internet as a source of information
  • how to create World Wide Web pages
  • how to gather and disseminate information
As you can see, there is a lot more to this course than learning how to make a Web page. We will explore how to find and use information from a wide range of places, including government, census, corporate and private sector sources. Just as importantly, we will spend some time evaluating the quality of each of these information resources, and discuss the advantages and drawbacks of each one.

For more details, please consult the syllabus in the Dead Tree Edition.
