Faculty Engaged Scholars Program
The Faculty Engaged Scholars Program is an initiative of the Carolina Center for Public Service and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement to advance faculty involvement in the scholarship of engagement. Such scholarship, while fully grounded as disciplined inquiry according to the highest academic standards, also strengthens university-community relationships and contributes to the common good.
The first class of eight Faculty Engaged Scholars was selected in October, 2007 to participate in learning about and pursuing community engagement through scholarly endeavor. The first year of the program is from January to December 2008. It is a two-year program with a new cohort of at least five Scholars entering each year. Currently, Dr. Ronald Strauss serves as faculty director and Mrs. Lucille Webb as community director. Read the press release about the first class of Faculty Engaged Scholars.
