Faculty Engaged Scholars

The Faculty Engaged Scholars Program is an initiative of the Carolina Center for Public Service and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement to advance faculty involvement in the scholarship of engagement. The first class of eight Scholars begins the two-year program in January 2008. A new cohort of at least five Scholars will enter each year to participate in learning about and pursuing community engagement through scholarly endeavor. Learn more.

Tar Heel Bus Tour

CCPS hosts the annual Tar Heel Bus Tour for the Chancellor's Office. Each year approximately thirty-five new faculty and senior administrators travel by bus for five days throughout the state to learn about critical issues facing North Carolina and ways the University is working to help address them. Public Service Awards

The Center honors individual students, faculty, staff and University units and organizations for extraordinary and exemplary public service through annual Public Service Awards. The awards include the Robert E. Bryan Public Service Award, the Ned Brooks Award for Public Service, and the Office of the Provost Engaged Scholarship Award. Learn more.

Other Opportunities

CCPS has supported a diverse array of faculty and staff public service and engagement projects. Since 1999, the Center has awarded more than 60 grants to faculty, staff and students totaling more than $325,000. These seed grants have enabled faculty and staff to pilot service projects in collaboration with local communities. Learn more.
