Other Opportunities for Faculty and Staff
The Carolina Center for Public Service has supported a diverse array of faculty and staff public service and engagement projects. Since 1999, CCPS has awarded more than 60 grants to faculty, staff and students totaling more than $325,000. These seed grants have enabled faculty and staff to pilot service projects in collaboration with local communities. Strowd Roses Faculty Fund
The Strowd Roses Faculty Fund through the Carolina Center for Public Service supports projects which connect scholarship to pressing issues in the local Chapel Hill / Carrboro community. Thank you to Strowd Roses, Inc. for their support. In 2006, the Strowd Roses Faculty Fund supported three Carolina projects in the local community. Learn more.
In a unique school-community partnership, Strowd Roses and the Triangle Community Foundation pledged grants totaling $375,000 to CCPS for a three-year project to address the achievement gap among local elementary students (beginning in 2007). The gift will support the school-based research of Natasha Bowen, assistant professor in the School of Social Work. Learn more.
Community Economic Development in North Carolina Fund
CCPS partners with the Office of Economic and Business Development (OEBD) to support community economic development. The Working Group on Economic Development (a joint effort of OEBD, CCPS, the Odum Institute, and the Center for Global Initiatives) is a network of faculty, staff, administrators and graduate students who meet monthly to discuss engaged scholarship and public service in economic development.
The Community Economic Development Competitive Grants Program awarded $90,000
