About CCPS
History
As the first public university, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a long and proud history of service. The tradition of service for the common good has evolved into a commitment to deeper engagement that involves mutually beneficial partnerships between the University and communities in North Carolina and far beyond. In 1999, the University established the Carolina Center for Public Service to strengthen and expand this tradition of engagement, as well as to continue changing lives through educating scholars and leaders dedicated to forging a brighter future for our state, nation and the world.
