Public Service Scholars Program
Launched in 2003, the Public Service Scholars (PSS) program provides a framework for undergraduate students who want to strengthen and maintain their commitment to serving communities throughout North Carolina, the nation and the world. This innovative program is open to all full-time undergraduate students with at least four semesters remaining at Carolina. Learn more.
Fellowships
The Center offers several summer fellowships that support public service in North Carolina and beyond. Graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Robert E. Bryan Public Service Fellowships and the UNC Entrepreneurial Public Service (EPS) Fellowships to develop and carry out local and global service projects. Undergraduates are also eligible to apply for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) to conduct engaged research projects. Learn more.
Public Service Awards
The Carolina Center for Public Service honors individual students, faculty, staff and University units and organizations for extraordinary and exemplary public service through annual Public Service Awards. The awards include the Robert E. Bryan Public Service Award, the Ned Brooks Award for Public Service, and the Office of the Provost Engaged Scholarship Award. Learn more.
Other Opportunities
Several grant opportunities are available to individuals and student groups that support their engagement efforts. The Seagraves Service Grants for Student Organizations are available to officially recognized student organizations to support public service projects in North Carolina. 100 Projects for Peace offers grants to undergraduates to design grassroots projects to be implemented during the summer. Recognized student organizations, and undergraduate and graduate students (individually or in teams) may apply for the Ronald W. Hyatt Rotary Public Service Awards. Learn more.
