Other Opportunities for Students
Several grant opportunities are available to individuals and student groups that support their engagement efforts. The Seagraves Service Grants for Student Organizations are available to officially recognized student organizations to support public service projects in North Carolina. 100 Projects for Peace offers grants to undergraduates to design grassroots projects to be implemented during the summer. Recognized student organizations, and undergraduate and graduate students (individually or in teams) may apply for the Ronald W. Hyatt Rotary Public Service Awards.
Seagraves Service Grants for Student Organizations
The Seagraves Service Grants for Student Organizations are available to all officially recognized UNC-Chapel Hill student organizations to support public service projects in North Carolina. Through the generosity of an alumnus, grants of up to $300 are awarded from a pool of $3,000. The program is named in honor of Mildred Yeager Seagraves, grandmother of the donor. Funds may be requested for any costs associated with the proposed service project, including supplies, travel, equipment, and other related programming expenses. Proposals are requested in the fall semester for projects to be completed by the end of the same academic year.

100 Projects for Peace
100 Projects for Peace is open to all undergraduates at the 76 institutions
(including UNC-Chapel Hill) that are part of the Davis United World College
Scholars Program. Students are invited to design grassroots projects that
they will implement during the summer. The 100 projects judged to be the
most promising and feasible will be funded at $10,000 each. The program
is made possible by Kathryn Wasserman Davis, an accomplished internationalist
and philanthropist, who celebrated her 100th birthday in 2007 by committing
$1 million for 100 Projects for Peace. She was so pleased with the outcome
that she has continued funding these projects.
