    Service hours and skills trainings are due by the last day of classes of the semester in which they occur. Late submissions are not accepted.

    Benefits

    Philanthropy Course – Promoting Change Through the Nonprofit Sector

    “Promoting Change through the Nonprofit Sector” is a one credit hour, pass/fail course offered to PSS participants. Students learn about the nonprofit field and the philosophy and practice of philanthropy through readings, class exercises and guest speakers. Twelve to fifteen students are selected through a competitive process to function as a grant making committee who manage all aspects of the philanthropic process. Learn more.

    Outward Bound scholarships

    Each year, the Carolina Center for Public Service awards up to four full tuition scholarships to students enrolled in PSS. Students participate in a 28-day course at the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Students develop practical outdoor skills and work as a team as they undertake progressively more challenging experiences during the course of the program. Learn more.
