Faculty Curriculum Development Award- Helps faculty add substantive international content to currently taught courses. Each award carries a $2,000 stipend and up to $2,500 for travel. Courses being developed may be graduate or undergraduate, and in any department, curriculum, or school.

Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship- Funds the study of less commonly taught languages and area studies coursework. Both academic year and summer funding available. The Center for Global Initiatives targets Arabic and Kiswahili.

Phillips Travel Scholarship- Approximately twenty Phillips Scholarships
for up to $7000 each awarded every year to Juniors and Seniors in the

Fellowship- awards two students up to $3,000 each to pursue a
summer project that benefits South Asians. Available to any graduate or

Scholarships- provides a central location for information on
distinguished scholarships for UNC students, advises students on drafts
of their applications, suggests interviewing strategies, and facilitates

REACH Fellowship- Offers Ph.D. candidates a $30,000 stipend over two consecutive years; a one-year research and travel grant to support international dissertation field research and a one-year stipend to apply that international research to teach an undergraduate course. True to its pan-university nature, Center for Global Initiatives solicits applications from Ph.D. candidates from all disciplines and departments. However, this award is limited to candidates working on Asia and Africa.

Robert E. Bryan
Fellowship- summer fellowships of up to $3000 given to students
to support public service projects that address identifiable needs within
North Carolina. Fellows work on project in conjunction with a local community
partner and with a faculty mentor. Faculty mentors receive a $500 grant.

in Public Affairs- a nine-month, full-time, post-graduate experiential
leadership-training program that introduces diverse, intelligent and driven
young public servants to all aspects of the public affairs arena. Sixty-four
Fellows are chosen annually each year through a highly competitive selection
process. The program is conducted in San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis,
New York and Pittsburgh.

Service Fellowship- awards two-year fellowships to emerging social

NC Albert Schweitzer
Fellows Program- one-year interdisciplinary fellowship program
focused on community service, leadership development and reflection. The
mission of the ASF is to develop "leaders in service" - individuals

Z. Smith Reynolds
Fellowship & Internship- the two-year fellowship is offered
to a North Carolinian who demonstrates an interest in philanthropy, public
policy, the nonprofit sector and/or community service. The fellow acts
as a junior program officer and works with Foundation staff in evaluating
grant proposals and visiting grant applicants. Salary and medical benefits
provided. The six-week summer internship is available for North Carolina
natives, residents, or students attending North Carolina colleges who
want experience in the nonprofit sector.
