Public Service Scholar Senior Portfolio
Students may choose from one of two portfolio options (a 750 word essay).
- Issue Analysis Option
Your portfolio should be an in-depth consideration of a community issue or problem that you have addressed through your service. This analysis should include a discussion of how your service while in the Public Service Scholars program addressed the issue’s root causes and solutions. Think of this portfolio as an opportunity to bring attention to an important issue and educate people about how they can have an impact. - Reflective Experience Option
Your portfolio should be a look back on the breadth and scope of service you have performed while enrolled in the Public Service Scholars program, what lessons you have learned through this service, how this service has changed you, and your plans for the future. Think of this portfolio as your opportunity to synthesize your experience and inspire others to pursue service.

Photographs and Photo Release Forms
Students must submit five photographs that signify an aspect(s) of their service. At least two of the five photos should be a picture of you alone. A signed photo release form is required for every identifiable person in the photographs. If the photograph(s) were taken abroad, there is no need for a photo release. Click here to download a release form. Signed photo release forms may be dropped off in person to Eileen Hannan at the Carolina Center for Public Service (Directions to the Center), mailed to CB # 3142, or scanned and emailed as an attachment to service_scholars@unc.edu.
Online Submission Deadline - Friday, February 22
Please submit completed portfolios (including photographs) via the PSS database (click on the "My Senior Portfolio" link in the blue menu box) by Friday, February 22. Students who submit portfolios that do not meet program standards will be asked to revise and re-submit their portfolios before this requirement is considered complete. NOTE: late submissions will not be accepted. If you fail to turn in your portfolio by the deadline, you will not graduate as a PSS.
