Cost of Study

Details are available at the Cashier's Office. The College of the Arts and Sciences usually provides tuition remission for out-of-state students. With recent legislation, tuition waivers for qualifying graduate students have been adopted and recommended. As long as these recommendation for remission and waivers continue and the student remains in good standing, the student will be responsible only for student fees. This policy may change in the future.

Living and housing costs vary widely in location and situation. The University has a limited amount of housing available for students with families, but most students live in privately rented apartments or houses.

Applicants to the program will automatically be considered for the limited number of assistantships and fellowships administered by the University, but acceptance to the program does not guarantee financial aid. Applicants are also urged to apply for the various national fellowships and scholarships in science and technology, e.g. those sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Departments of Energy and Defense, and industrial sponsors.
