Behavioral Neuroscience Program The requirements of the Behavioral Neuroscience Training Program include those specified as University (see Graduate School) as well as Departmental (see below) requirements. In addition, the following requirements apply for the completion of the Ph.D. in our Program: 1) Completion of two Core courses. This consists of Psyc 701 and 702. 2) Completion of Psyc 720 and 721 (during 1st and 2nd years). 3) Completion of a first year research project. 4) Two graduate seminars (700 level courses). 5) An outside of department minor (e.g., Neurobiology) is strongly recommended. The minor involves 15 credits of Neurobiology coursework. Specific courses are determined by Dr. Rosenberg in consultation with you and your mentor. 6) Master's Degree requirements fulfilled by end of second year. The above requirements apply to all predoctoral students in the Behavioral Neuroscience Training Program. ------------------------------------------ Brief Overview of Departmental Requirements for Ph.D. degree: 1. Major Area. Course requirements within the major specialty area will be selected according to guidelines laid down by the faculty members in the student's program. 2. Non-Major Area. Minimal requirements include completion of Psychology 830, 831, and 790. In addition, each student is required to complete at least one of the Department's graduate courses numbered 700 or above from outside their Program. If no minor is chosen from outside the department, an additional course must be completed from the departmental offerings outside of his/her Program. 3. Every student must complete (a) Doctoral Written Examination, (b) Preliminary Orals, and (c) the Final Oral Defense. 4. Every student is required to engage in research
during each semester in which he or she is enrolled in the Department. |
