Study participants are currently being recruited for the following schools in Wilson County:

  • Lee Woodard Elementary (Feb. 20 - 23)
  • Lucama Elementary (Feb 26 - Mar 1)
  • Rock Ridge Elementary (Mar 15-20)

  • Fike High School (tba)
  • Hunt High School (tba)
  • Beddingfield High School (tba)

Please contact us if you are interested in having your son or daughter participate.

Current and Future projects include

  • Examining clusters of risk factors related to developing CVD and Type 2 diabetes in the future,
  • Determining genetic markers for obesity and CVD,
  • Developing computerized assessment of physical activities, and
  • Continuing to collect health behavior and health outcome information from school age children.

The ultimate goal of the project is to evaluate the importance of appropriate physical education and health classes in reducing the incidence of heart disease risk factors.
