NC-MSEN Statewide Institute for Teaching Excellence:
SITE: Geometry for High School

offered by CMSE and NCSSM

Institute Description:
This is a 1-week (5 day) workshop covering content material and pedagogical strategies for the Geometry course as it is described by the NC Standard Course of Study. Sessions will include both content-instructional sessions and sessions centered on teaching strategies. 

The content covered in the workshop includes analytic geometry, transformational geometry, polygons, circles, and geometric probability.

Teaching strategies will include the use of technology; strategies for teaching theorems on circles and polygons; strategies for completing the entire curriculum in the allotted time; and strategies for combining objectives.

Teachers will be expected to come to the workshop with their pacing guides, current or future textbook, a TI Calculator with Cabri, Jr., and a laptop. Copies of the student edition of the Geometer’s Sketchpad software will be provided.
