NC Museum of Life and Science

The Museum, located on Murray Avenue not far from I-85's Duke Street exit in Durham, has recently established a new web site under the sponsorship of the Durham Herald Sun. The site, an electronic copy of the Museum's quarterly newsletter Adventures, is particularly attractive, well organized, and easy to use. Graphics are used for illustration, but they don't overwhelm the site or unduly delay presentation of the pages.

The site includes a Teacher Features page with information about the Museum's many teacher activities. Michele Kloda, a science educator formerly with the Mathematics and Science Education Network, has recently come to the Museum as Coordinator of School Programs. With her help, the Museum has expanded its programming for both kids and teachers. Teacher workshops are held nearly every Saturday on a variety of topics of interest at all grade levels.

Also of special interest to teachers, the site has a collection of activities for kids, all of which could easily be adapted to classroom use. Look for the link to these activities on the Early Childhood page.

As you'd expect, the site also has good visitor information, including news of current exhibits, hours of operation, exhibit maps, directions to the Museum, and information on Museum memberships.

We congratulate the Museum on this fine new site, and welcome it as one of our newest and most useful Neighbors on the Net!
