Southern Intellectual History Circle Meeting

Drew Gilpin Faust delivered the keynote address on historians' struggles with Scarlett O'Hara. A version of this paper will be published in Southern Cultures (Spring 1999). Some of the other papers given at this conference will also be collected in a special issue of SC (Winter 1998), guest-edited by Michael O'Brien and focusing on the South in the non-Southern mind. The SIHC conference took place in March 1998.
