This House Is Home:
An Initiative to Advance Affordable Home Ownership in America

This two year initiative influenced policy debate on housing and educated the general public about affordable home ownership. "This House Is Home" began in March 2002 with a mobile gallery in San Antonio, Texas, that noted photographer Bill Bamberger used as a community arts laboratory exploring the issue of home affordability. The resulting photography comprised an exhibit that opened at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., in March 2004. The initiative's intellectual capstone was a multidisciplinary national conference on affordable home ownership held on the UNC campus October 30 through November 1, 2003, featuring a keynote address from former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros and attendees with a wide variety of backgrounds.
