The Production Team
Martin Clark has been producing and directing video and film projects since 1984. His production work began when he was a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pursuing a degree in Radio, Television, and Motion Pictures. In addition to his classes he worked on the student staff of North Carolina Public Television and served with Student Television for UNC-CH as a producer/director and administrator. While at UNC Martin was recognized for this work with Student Television by being inducted into three campus honorary societies, the Orders of the Golden Fleece, Old Well, and Grail. In the years since college, Martin has assembled a number of award-winning works spanning the educational, nonprofit, corporate, and independent arenas. During 1995–98 Martin produced and directed several video products for the Ford Foundation-funded Rural Community College Initiative (RCCI). The RCCI’s goals are to foster sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurship, and improved access to education in distressed rural communities. The centerpiece of Martin’s work with the RCCI is a five-hour series of eight educational/documentary programs presenting the initiative’s goals and success stories. Martin also produced and edited the 1994 documentary film Dr. Frank: The Life and Times of Frank Porter Graham. Narrated by Charles Kuralt and broadcast on North Carolina Public Television, the film garnered significant critical recognition including an Emmy award, a CINE Golden Eagle award, and a screening at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
