About the Southern Research Circle

Through the Southern Research Circle, UNC graduate students and faculty from a variety of departments gather together to discuss new research about the South and its people. The SRC’s goal is to foster new understandings of the region and a sensibility among researchers as to how their work can speak to broad audiences outside their individual fields.

The SRC sponsors summer grants to support studies of regional life and culture. Membership in the SRC is open to graduate students and faculty at the University, and the group welcomes new participants. If you have an interest in the South and would enjoy interacting with some of the best new thinkers the South has to offer, please contact the Center office for more information.
