COMMENT ON:
“Ending Tyranny”
http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/item/2008/0709/iar/iar_ending.html

From:
Yale Richmond, FSO (Ret.)

Francis P. Sempa, in his review of the John Lewis Gaddis article, gives President George W. Bush much more credit than he deserves in “ending tyranny” and “spreading democracy.” With the single exception of his overthrowing Saddam Hussein, a scorecard for Bush would show no success in either ending tyranny or spreading democracy during his eight years in office. A more likely factor for such success would be the winning of wars. As history shows us, the victors in war determine the politics that follow. Surely Gaddis, a professor of history, also knows that.
