We welcome all submissions and will acknowledge and consider them promptly. Send via e-mail (to editor @ americandiplomacy.org) as an attachment in Microsoft Word, or, if short, in the body of the e-mail message. Research-based scholarly articles may range up to 10,000 words, but most commentary and analysis articles, feature stories, and memoirs should not exceed 5000 words. Book reviews should be no more than 1500 words, and Internet article and speech reviews should not exceed 300 words. Extensive, detailed notes should be avoided. Footnotes are difficult to handle in our electronic format. Source citations, if necessary, may be inserted parenthetically in the text or as endnotes. Our editorial style is based on the Chicago Manual of Style, with some variations. We also encourage adherence to the principles of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style. We encourage pictures and illustrations to accompany submissions. They should be submitted electronically in JPEG or GIF formats. We also welcome our reader’s opinions on the articles and reviews that appear in American Diplomacy. Short letters (150 words or less) are especially encouraged and all letters are subject to editing if selected for publication. -The Editor |
