Dear American Diplomacy:

Good morning.

I must object to an article of yours in which a supposedly serious writer claims G. Washington "..was many things, but a competent general he was not."

  http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/item/2007/0103/sich/sicherman_franklin.html

That is manifestly untrue. Even the British National Army Museum voted G. Washington "the greatest enemy commander to ever face Britain." Making the case for Washington, historian Stephen Brumwell said the American War of Independence (1775-83) was "the worst defeat for the British Empire ever."

"His personal leadership was crucial," he said.

Kindly correct that article to accurately reflect the most important stage in American history.
