Xiaodong Wu joined the Department of Economics at UNC, Chapel Hill in fall 1999 before receiving her Ph.D. from Princeton University in May 2000. She has worked on issues related to free trade areas and trade liberalization policies. Her current research focuses on the behavior and regulation of multinational firms and the related political and institutional issues, especially the economic impact of foreign direct investment on the hosting countries as well as the political environment in the hosting countries on the volume and type of foreign direct investment.
