MAT students volunteer at Durham Freedom School
As part of their course requirements for EDUC 641 and 642, students in the MAT program participate in service learning by volunteering at the Durham Freedom School at NCCU, a summer program for young people in grades 3 through 8. For five weeks, MAT students made weekly visits to the Freedom School and assisted in a variety of activities ranging from literacy tutoring for students one-on-one and in small groups to a classroom support for teachers for both academic instruction and cultural enrichment activities.
