Current Initiatives
Orange County Schools Initiative
As part of its ongoing mission, RTSP collaborates with Chatham County, Orange County, Chapel Hill-Carrboro, and Durham Public School districts to provide systemic change to enhance student learning, pre-service teacher education, in-service teacher professional development and doctoral training. The partnership provides an integrated model in pre-K-12 school contexts that is beneficial to all partners and that allows for exploring teaching and learning across a continuum. Current projects within this initiative include:
- Conducting undergraduate teacher preparation courses in public schools.
- Placing pre-service student teachers, guidance counselors and psychologists, administration interns and school social workers in classrooms and schools.
- Researching promising practices and offering professional development.
