The
Program
has
three
basic
components
- Academic
Year,
Summer
Academy
and
Bridge
Academy.
Academic
Year
(September-May)
During
the
Academic
Year,
for
nine
months,
students
participate
in the
Saturday
Enrichment
Academy
and
After
School
Scholastics
Institute
Sessions.
Students
receive
academic
instruction,
tutoring
and
counseling.
Academic
and
social
growth
are
monitored
throughout
the
year.
Students
visit
colleges
and
cultural
sites,
complete
college
applications,
learn
about
the
financial
aid
application
process,
and
participate
in service
learning
and
leadership
development
activities.

Summer
Academy
(July-August)
The Summer Academy is comprised of a four week Pre-Bridge and a one week Bridge Component. The Pre-Bridge Summer Component for 10th and 11th grade participants is the four week academic phase of Upward Bound that is held Monday through Friday. Students participate in four academic classes, electives, tutorials, seminars, counseling activities, including career awareness, college preparation and financial aid, college visitation, personal and group counseling, mentoring, cultural enrichment, academic advising and other related experiences.

Bridge
Academy
(Summer)
The third component for the Summer of 2009 will be a non-residential Bridge camp for seniors, The camp will offer supplemental instruction to seniors to help them be better prepared for their freshman year in college.
