The inaugural event for the UNC-CH and Duke University European Union Center
was held on December 7th via a joint ISDN video-conference with the European
Union Center of the University of Washington-Seattle. The two Centers
were linked for a roundtable discussion on "The Euro and EU Expansion."
Speakers at the roundtable included the Centers' directors, Gary Marks
(UNC-CH), David Bell (Duke), John Keeler (UW-Seattle), and two guest speakers
Peter Lange (Duke), and Christine Ingebritsen (UW-Seattle). Other
participants included graduate students in the Transatlantic Masters Program
at UNC-CH and students at UW- Seattle in Professor Ingebritsen's class
on Political Economy. Following are streaming video clips from the
