Featuring: Undergraduate Essay Competition Announcement "From 6 to 27: How Has the Treaty of Rome Shaped the Last 50 Years?"
March 25, 2007 will be the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome establishing the European Economic Community. In an essay of no more than 2000 words discuss the Treaty’s impact on Europe and the transatlantic relationship. Essays must be double spaced in 12 point font, and submitted electronically from the author’s UNC email account to the European Union Center of Excellence at UNC - Chapel Hill (europe@unc.edu). Deadline for submission at UNC is Friday, February 16th by 5 PM. The winning essay from UNC will be sent to the Network of European Union Centers of Excellence (EUCE) to compete with essays from all 10 centers in the United States. The winner will be announced February 28th, and will receive $250 and a trip to Washington D.C. (air ticket and one hotel night) where the award will be made by Ambassador John Bruton of the Delegation from the European Commission to the United States. The winning essay will be published on the EUCE Network website at www.unc.edu/euce.
