Dr. Hong collaborated with UNC Professor John Stephens from January-December 2006, extending his work on East Asian social policy and adding a comparative perspective by studying social policy in the advanced industrial democracies of Western Europe, North America, and Australasia.

Professor Lemke was short-term DAAD Professor in European Studies, 2005-2006. She taught a course in the Transatlantic Masters Program on EU Enlargement and the Case of Turkey. Prof Lemke is a frequent visitor to the CES/EUCE. Indeed, while DAAD professor in the early 1990s she worked with a group of UNC faculty members to help establish the Program in European Studies-the precursor to the current EU Center of Excellence. He taught a graduate course in our Transatlantic Masters (TAM) degree program on "Changing European Security in the 21st Century: Implications for the Transatlantic Relationship". Professor Mahncke also spoke on German-American relations in the Center for European Studies Speaker Series and participated in German Studies classes. |
