Facility:

The Get REAL & HEEL breast cancer program is held at the Outdoor Education Center on the Campus of The University of North Carolina. The facility contains one room equipped with strength machines, free weights, treadmills, bicycle ergometers, cross-trainers, and elliptical cardio machines. The other rooms are used for Recreation Therapy, a locker room to change and an administrative office.

Patients enrolled in the program will be able to participate in an individualized prescriptive exercise/recreation therapy intervention for approximately 1-1-1/2 hours 3 times a week during a 5 month period. The hours for participation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am-7pm. The exercise/recreation therapy sessions will be arranged by the program coordinator according to the patient's and trainer's schedule.
