Bachelor's degree from an
accredited institution with a major in Exercise and Sport Science,
Physical Education, or Kinesiology. Applicants who do not have one
of the above majors as an undergraduate, must have a Bachelor's Degree
from an accredited institution and course work including anatomy (human or
comparative), physiology (human or mammalian), exercise physiology, and
two courses in the biological or health sciences related to the
specialization. Qualified applicants must have completed a research
and/or statistics course to establish a foundation for graduate level work
in research and statistics. Contact the specialization coordinator
if you have additional concerns. "Interviews are strongly encouraged
prior to admission". Applicants should contact Dr. Robert McMurray,
919-962-1371, or email him at exphys@email.unc.edu
to arrange for an interview.
The Graduate School recommends 3.0 cumulative grade point
average and GRE scores at or above the 50th percentile of the students taking
the GRE nationally. It is strongly recommended that applicants take the
writing portion of the GRE. In addition, a personal statement of goals and three
recommendations are needed, preferable two from individuals that attest to
academic achievement.
