The Department of EXSS offers a cooperative Ph.D. program for selected
students in conjunction with the Department of Nutrition. Candidates for
admissions must meet the requirements of both the Departments of EXSS and
Nutrition. A minor in Exercise Physiology is also available for students
pursuing graduate studies in other departments on campus.
Ph.D. in Human Movement Science
with a specialization in Exercise Physiology research. Written statement
required; write or call department for application procedures (Dr. Robert
McMurray or Dr. Anthony Hackney). Accepts new students for fall semester only.
GRE General Test Required. Master's degree required in a related field.
Application deadline is January 1.
The Department offers coursework leading to a Ph.D. degree within the
Curriculum of Human Movement Science which is administered by the Department
of Allied Health Sciences. This curriculum has four areas of
concentration: behavior studies (motor learning, motor development, and
psychological factors), biomechanics, physiology, and neuromuscular control.
Application is made directly to the Curriculum in Human Movement Science.
Potential applicants must choose a specific area of study. The
Department also offers a cooperative Ph.D. program in conjunction with the
Department of Nutrition. A minor in Exercise Physiology is also
available for students pursuing degrees in other departments on campus.
