Professional Summary

Chris Hirth is in his second year of lecturing in the newly developed Fitness Professional Tract within EXSS. He is the Assistant Director of the Fitness Professional Tract.   He has been at UNC since 1996 working as a Staff athletic trainer / physical therapist within the UNC Student Health Service. During that time he served as the staff ATC for Track and Field, Women’s Lacrosse, Gymnastics and the Men’s Soccer teams which he conti

nues to work with. He also served as a guest lecturer in the graduate and undergraduate athletic training programs, along with being a member on several graduate and undergraduate thesis committees. Chris has an advanced masters degree in Human Movement Science from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (1994). He is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sport Medicine and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). His teaching will focus on theory and practical application of strength training and conditioning for fitness professionals and performance enhancement in athletic population
