Summary
Dr. Sherry Salyer,
in her 17th year at UNC,
arrived in 1992 to work with the Physical Education Teacher Education
program which was jointly administered by the Exercise and Sport Science
Department and the School of Education. Upon the termination of the PETE
program in 1998, Dr. Salyer took on other departmental teaching and
administrative responsibilities. She has served as Director of
Undergraduate Studies since 1997. Additionally, she has served as an
academic advisor, Assistant Dean and Assistant Dean in the
Academic Advising Program in the College of Arts and Sciences and the
General College.
She
completed her B.S. in Health and Physical Education (1974) and M.A. in
Physical Education (1979) from Appalachian State University and her
doctorate in Exercise and Sport Science (2003) from UNC Greensboro.
Dr.
Salyer is active professionally in the North Carolina Alliance for
Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NCAAHPERD),
American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD)
and the North American Society for Sport History (NASSH).
