Dr. Robert McMurray Inducted into Courtland State University Hall of Fame
Robert G. McMurray became the 200th person in the 100 year history of athletics at the SUNY Cortland to be elected to the Hall of Fame. Dr. McMurray was an All America swimmer for three years at Cortland and at one point during his senior year head the Collegiate Record for the 1650 yard freestyle. Since leaving Cortland, he completed graduate work and has become a successful Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has published over 120 manuscripts, two books and received the Scholar Awards from the Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine and the NC Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health. He was sited for his decades of professional work to reduce childhood obesity and diabetes by enhancing exercise.
