Frederick Mueller, Professor
Dr. Mueller teaches the introductory course in Sport Administration.
Research area in sports injuries and is Director of the National Center
for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research.
Barbara
Osborne, J.D. Associate Professor, Coordinator of Sport
Administration Specialization
Ms. Osborne teaches the introductory course in Sport Administration
and graduate courses in legal issues and practicum. Research
areas of interest include Legal Issues in Intercollegiate
Athletics, Title IX, pay equity, and liability.
Dr. Edgar W. Shields,
Jr., Associate Professor
Dr. Shields has twenty years experience in Intramural-Recreational
Sport
Administration in higher education (sixteen years as Director of Program);
coached football, basketball, track and field at high school level. Current
research interests and projects include: substance abuse in high school
athletes; intimidation and violence in high school athletic programs; administrative
issues in physical education, exercise and sport science programs in higher
education.
Dr. Deborah Stroman,
Adjunct Assistant Professor
Dr. Stroman teaches the introductory and graduate courses in
Financial Management and Marketing. She has experience as a former athlete,
coach, and administrator in intercollegiate athletics with UVA, UNC, and the
NCAA. Research areas of interest include social issues of sports, leadership,
marketing, and athletic management.
