Once the
applications have been reviewed in early January, the top 12-15 candidates
(based on GPA, GRE, and letters of recommendation) are invited to campus for a
three-day interview with the specialization faculty, athletic training staff,
and enrolled graduate students. The applicants are evaluated in terms of 1)
previous experience, 2) academic credentials, 3) personality, and 4) potential
as a professional athletic trainer. Final selection of the top 9 candidates is
based on the above criteria and is determined by general consensus of the entire
Sports Medicine Staff. Nine students are admitted to the program each year for
a total of 18 students in any given year.
