Future Sport Medicine Facility

The UNC Sports Medicine program is happy to announce that a new, state-of-the-art Sports Medicine facility here on campus WILL become a reality. This is a very exciting time for our program and for the entire campus. The new facility will be in what was the old Women’s Gym next to the Kessing Outdoor Pool. The old structure will be gutted and completely renovated to provide a clinical treatment facility of about 7500 sq. ft. and approximately an additional 3500 sq. ft. for staff and student offices and a conference room. Renovation of this new facility is expected to begin in February, 2008 with anticipated completion in late spring, 2009. Please click on the link to floor plans and artist rendering, to see what the new facility will look like.

We are very proud of the tradition of the UNC Sports Medicine program and we strive to set the academic standard in our field.  With the construction of the new UNC Sports Medicine Center, we are committing ourselves to setting the standard in Sports Medicine facilities in order to be able to continue attracting and cultivating the finest Athletic Trainers in the country as well as provide the highest quality service to the students, faculty, and staff of the University.

Fund raising for this project is ongoing. A major donor has been identified but there are a number of ways each of you can help make this dream a reality and propel the UNC Sports Medicine program into the next century.  From having your name engraved on a brick that will be placed outside of The Center to having a section of The Center named in your honor, there are an infinite number of ways that each of you can help, and every dollar is extremely important.  Please be a part of this exciting venture with us and renew your sense of pride in YOUR program.

Our website will continually be updated with information on this project.  We have included as well as information on how you can help.  Please don’t hesitate to call or write with any questions about this exciting time in our program’s history.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

The entire UNC Sports Medicine Staff
