There are two ways to get course information about FYS. 

ON-LINE INFORMATION
The most up-to-date information about FYS offerings and availability is through the online directory of classes, which will have up-to-the-minute information on course additions and cancellations.  The online directory lists all of the courses being offered in a particular semester by each department, including FYS, which all have numbers between 50 and 89.  An even more useful strategy for exploring FYS being offered is the course search engine.  This application is particularly useful because it has a search option entitled "Type of Course" that can be set to "First Year Seminar" and other parameters that can be set to search only specific departments, days, or times. 

COURSE LISTING DOCUMENTS
The FYS office keeps a complete list of all FYS that have been approved and thus are officially in the course inventory. Please note that departments are responsible for scheduling FYS classes, and that while many of the FYS in UNC’s inventory are offered regularly, some are not.

            FYS COURSE INVENTORY

In preparation for the upcoming semester, the FYS office prepares a document that lists and describes the courses that are planned.  For the fall semester, this document is a formal brochure that is published and is distributed to students at their CTOPS session.

For the spring semester, the FYS Course listing is a less formal listing.

            SPRING 2008 FYS COURSE LISTING
