Officers for the 2007-08 school year have been selected.
Visit the "People"
section to learn more.
Dues
for the new school year are $15 (or $7.50 a semester).
Please make out your check to GAGS and turn it into
treasurer Anne Trainor as soon as you
can. Copier accounts can also be activated/replenished
by contacting Anne, who can add money to your account
and set you up with a copier code if you don't have
one. Copies made in Saunders are 4 cents/page. Money
cannot be added instantaneously so plan in advance.
Joseph
Palis agreed to be the point-man for the November
SEDAAG meeting (Southeastern Division of the American
Association of Geographers), so contact him if you are
interested in going and/or have any questions. He will
NOT, however, arrange transportation.
Geography
T-Shirts left over from last year are available for
purchase. They are tarheel blue, have a geography department
logo on the front, and the coordinates of Saunders on
the back. Contact Dilys Bowman if you
are interested.
We're
thinking about reviving the annual Geography Department
picnic this year. The picnic died a couple of years
ago. It was suggested that the demise of the picnic
had something to do with the faculty's loss in the annual
softball game (sore losers???). If you think the annual
picnic is a good idea, let us know.
Ideas
for cool, geography-related projects that GAGS should
sponsor, let us know! Past projects have included a
national film series (spear-headed by Joseph) and a
photo competition and photo exhibit spear-headed by
Joseph, Tim and QuiQui.
