Research

Ecosystems are being subjected to many natural and anthropogenic environmental pressures in this age of global climate and landscape change. We are interested in learning how ecosystems will respond to these pressures, as well as what characteristics of the landscape are responsible for shaping ecological processes.

Toward that end, our lab uses remote sensing, GIS, and ecosystem modeling as our main tools for conducting research in the following three areas:

Our lab members share the common interest of conducting research applicable to the conservation of threatened and endangered species, as well as the improvement of ecosystem management techniques. Since human land use patterns remain one of the primary causes of habitat destruction, our research has direct applications toward preventing further losses of biodiversity.
