Procedures for Transferring Geography Credits to UNC

Requests for transfer credits must first go through the UNC Office of Undergraduate Admissions and/or the UNC Study Abroad Office (for courses taken as part of a study abroad program).

If the course you are requesting credit for is not already on the list of approved course equivalencies as equivalent to a geography course, and you want it to count as the equivalent of a course in Geography at UNC, you must petition the Geography Department to approve your transfer credit. To do so, download and fill out the form below, and return it to Nell Phillips in the Geography Department Office. Be sure to include a syllabus or other supporting material for your request. If you would like the transfer credit to count towards a geography degree at UNC, be sure to check the box stating that you are a geography major, as additional notification of the transfer credit will have to be sent to the Arts & Sciences Advising Program.

If you have questions about these procedures then please contact Nell Phillips in the Department of Geography Office.
