4. Statement of Purpose - Please provide a personal assessment of your German language ability, a brief description of your most important courses and any study abroad programs you may have taken part in, and a summary of your goals in seeking a graduate degree in German (1000 to 1500 words).
5. Writing Sample - In order to complete your application, you must provide a copy of a substantial writing sample (a term paper or something similar - either in German or English) demonstrating your critical and analytical skills. You may do this by mail (below), or by sending an attached file to german@unc.edu. Or you may provide a link to such a writing sample on the web.
PLEASE NOTE: In order for you to be considered for financial support, application materials for the Graduate School and the information requested on this form must be received by January 1 at the latest.
