Hometown: Hendersonville, North Carolina
High School: The Asheville School, Asheville, N.C.

A National Merit Finalist, Jones looked at a number of leading colleges and universities outside the state before deciding to remain in North Carolina for his education. Before coming to Chapel Hill, he spent a year studying in Scotland on an English Speaking Union Scholarship. This experience whetted his appetite for foreign travel and study, and he plans to take advantage of one of the two Honors Semesters in Australia before he graduates from UNC.
"As a North Carolinian, I was familiar enough with UNC to know that it offered the best in terms of research opportunities and faculty. When I learned about the type of curriculum that was available through the Honors Program, the small classes, and the chance to develop real relationships with professors, I knew that Carolina was where I wanted to attend school."
