F-1

In this section on F-1, there are are following subsections:

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-Chapel Hill) generally issues the
I-20 form (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status) for the F-1 visa to all incoming international students.

To be eligible for an F-1 visa or F-1 student status, a student must be admitted to UNC-Chapel Hill to pursue a full course of study. To review admissions requirements, please visit The Admissions Office website for the level of study you wish to pursue. International students must certify that they have sufficient funds to pay their expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, and health insurance, for the entire length of their studies at UNC-Chapel Hill. In addition, students must have adequate English skills for the intended course of study. After a student has been admitted to a full-time program of study at UNC-Chapel Hill and has met the University's standards for financial certification and English competency, the Office of International Student and Scholar Services will issue and mail the I-20 form to the prospective student.

If you have been issued an I-20 form, but desire and are eligible to receive the DS-2019 form for the J-1 visa, please contact the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.
