Founded in Atlanta 1962, the Southern Center for International Studies (SCIS), is a non-profit educational institution whose primary mission is to internationalize the thinking of the American public. The SCIS conducts conferences with international experts and world leaders, maintains a website featuring current and historical information and links to a host of international sites, and publishes the "World in Transition" series of multimedia educational materials on specific regions of the world. The ISSP, along with similar organizations in other states, provides workshops featuring the materials and training methods of the SCIS. |

The North Carolina Humanities Council (NCHC) uses federal money made available by the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as gifts from private sources in the state, to make grants to non-profit organizations for humanities programs. The NCHC supports projects that draw upon history, literature, and languages to examine issues and illuminate cultural dimensions of American society through the exchange of ideas between people. The NCHC has awarded a $10,700 grant to the ISSP for its GlobalArts Initiative. |
