The North Carolina Humanities Council (NCHC) uses federal money made available by the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as gifts from private sources in the state, to make grants to non-profit organizations for humanities programs. The NCHC supports projects that draw upon history, literature, and languages to examine issues and illuminate cultural dimensions of American society through the exchange of ideas between people.

The NCHC has awarded a $10,700 grant to the ISSP for its GlobalArts Initiative.

The Center For Slavic,
Eurasian, and
East European Studies

Operated jointly by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, the Center is one of sixteen National Resource Centers in Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies so designated by the Center for International Education of the US Department of Education. The CSEES supports a variety of activities, including undergraduate education, graduate student and faculty research, exchange programs, conferences, seminars, and public outreach programs.

The CSEES was a co-sponsor of the ISSP's workshop on global economics and has helped to fund a number of GlobalArts presentations, including the production of "A Walk in the Woods."  Nicolae Harsanyi, an CSEES scholar, led discussions around that production.
