Books for the (August) beach:
- Fidler, Roger. Mediamorphosis: Understanding new media. Thousand Oaks, CA:Pine Forge Press, 1997.
An experienced newspaper designer goes into detail on 10 years of attempting to design
the "mass media" of the future (especially a "portable tablet") while the Internet crept up in the background.
- Negroponte, Nicolas. Being Digital. New York: Vintage Books, 1995.
This is a collection of short, opinionated articles by the founder of MIT's Media Lab on
(as the title suggests) the possibilities digital media hold for our future. He believes that mass media
will be transformed from "publisher-push" to "reader-pull," allowing you or your software to select
personalized stories for your "Daily Me" media.
