Assignment
- Wrap up the Treasure Hunt! Due Friday, 4 p.m.
- Report treasures on your Web page! Due Monday 9:45 a.m.
Related sites:
- The Assignment: Treasure Hunt #2
- More Library Help from the Virtual Reference Desk.
- Hoover's business database website. For example,
here's
what it will tell you about one of the world's biggest media companies,Time Warner.
Notice the gold stars on information it will only show to customers.
- But through the UNC and state library systems, you are a customer!
Compare Hoover's Website with the Hoover's search through EBSCO,
the publishing company. (Note: We've had some troubles with the new interface to
this database, but keep trying.
To get there the long way, go to library.unc.edu, select
electronic
indexes and databases, then select NCLive. Select
"electronic resources," select EBSCO, and either click on "login to
EBSCO Host," or click on
EBSCO host 1.1" (We've had more luck with the latter; which identifies
itself as an older version for Lynx users. The newer version seems to
connect, but some searches that should work come up empty, at
least as of July 30, 1998.)
Finally, select Hoover's from the list of databases and search away!
- For even more business sources, see UNC Business Librarian
Rita Moss's recently-updated list of
Business Information Resources
- We've had this as a "related site" earlier in the term but didn't talk
about it in class: Project Vote Smart,
which is another source of information about your
elected representatives
