Fetch Fest, Scanning and Photoshop
Goals for today:
- Discuss design and planning your Web pages and Web sites.
- Review Fetch and file transfer protocol (FTP), and demonstrate
the importance of "raw data."
- Introduce the steps required to scan photos and convert them into graphic
images suitable for use on on the Web. We will use some of the basic Photoshop
functions to accomplish this, and will review the differences between GIFs,
JPEGs and TIFFs.
- Review the scary side of Photoshop.
- Read an online newspaper or magazine while you wait your turn!
Assignment:
- Bring a photo of yourself (or another photo you own) to scan and include on your Web page
- Read the Dead Tree sections about scanning photos, image file formats,
and everything you ever wanted to know about FTP and Fetch. see pages
197-240
